Senior Lecturer and PGR Tutor - 0.6FTE
Overview
Chester Medical School is seeking to appoint an exceptional Senior Lecturer in Medical Sciences to join our expanding and ambitious Medical Sciences division. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high quality education and to provide leadership in postgraduate research as Postgraduate Research Tutor.
You will join a dynamic academic community delivering established undergraduate and postgraduate programmes including Biomedical Science, Pharmacology, Haematology, and Translational Medicine. The role offers the opportunity to shape the future of Medical Science education and postgraduate research training within a supportive and innovative environment.
The role
You will contribute to teaching, research, and academic leadership across the division. As Postgraduate Research Tutor, you will play a central role in supporting postgraduate research students, overseeing progress, and contributing to recruitment and research training.
Key responsibilities include:
* Deliver high quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes
* Develop and enhance innovative teaching and learning materials
* Supervise undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral research students
* Provide academic leadership and pastoral support for postgraduate research students
* Lead postgraduate research recruitment and admissions
* Develop and maintain an active research profile with high quality publications
* Contribute to curriculum development and programme leadership
* Support the strategic growth and development of Medical Sciences
About you
You will be an enthusiastic and committed academic with expertise in Medical Sciences or a closely related discipline.
You will have:
* A PhD in Medical Sciences or a related discipline
* Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, or willingness to obtain
* Experience teaching in higher education
* Experience supervising postgraduate research students
* Evidence of research and scholarly activity
* Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
* A strong commitment to student support and academic excellence
