“Are you ready to join a team of talented engineers and shape the future of the Nuclear Industry?”
This is an exciting and dynamic time to join AECOM’s Nuclear Project Controls Team, where we deliver complex, safety-critical programmes across the energy and defence sectors. As a Principal Nuclear Project Planner, you’ll play a key role in driving planning excellence across major nuclear new build, decommissioning, and infrastructure projects — ensuring no two days are ever the same.
With continued growth across our nuclear portfolio, we are seeking an enthusiastic, ambitious, and driven professional to support high-profile projects while strengthening our planning capability and standards. This role is pivotal in optimising programme performance, enhancing reporting quality, and advancing our use of digital planning tools — particularly Primavera P6.
We’re looking for a talented individual with strong, recent experience in Primavera P6 within highly regulated environments. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in developing and maintaining fully logic-linked schedules, performing critical path analysis, managing baselines, and supporting Earned Value Management (EVM). Experience integrating cost and risk data, conducting schedule assurance reviews, and supporting NEC contract requirements will be highly regarded.
For over 50 years, AECOM’s multidisciplinary nuclear and energy teams have delivered fit-for-purpose solutions across the nuclear sector, addressing unique challenges with an unwavering commitment to safety and sustainability. Joining our Nuclear Team offers the opportunity to:
* Work on complex, nationally significant programmes that shape the future of clean energy and nuclear infrastructure.
* Develop your career within a growing, forward-thinking project controls function.
* Apply advanced planning methodologies and collaborate with industry leaders to deliver world-class programme performance.
* Influence planning standards, digital integration, and best practice across major frameworks.
There has never been a more exciting time to join AECOM’s Nuclear Team. Be part of our journey to deliver innovative solutions and shape the future of energy and engineering.
What You’ll Do
As a Principal Nuclear Project Planner, you will be expected to:
Planning & Scheduling
* Develop and maintain fully logic-linked, resource-loaded schedules in Primavera P6.
* Create integrated Level 1–4 schedules aligned to programme controls standards.
* Establish Work Breakdown Structures and coding structures aligned to client reporting requirements.
* Develop baseline schedules and manage change control processes.
* Conduct schedule risk analysis and support quantitative risk assessments.
* Perform critical path analysis and scenario modelling.
Programme Controls
* Interface with cost management teams to ensure schedule and cost alignment.
* Support Earned Value Management reporting.
* Produce weekly and monthly progress reports and dashboards.
* Analyse schedule performance metrics (SPI, float trends, etc.).
* Support forensic schedule analysis when required.
Stakeholder & Client Engagement
* Work closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams.
* Participate in client planning workshops and schedule reviews.
* Provide planning assurance in line with nuclear regulatory expectations.
* Support bids and tenders with programme development and methodology narratives.
Governance & Compliance
* Ensure schedules comply with NEC contract requirements (where applicable).
* Maintain adherence to nuclear quality standards and safety culture principles.
* Support internal assurance and audit processes.
Come grow with us. Become part of our dynamic nuclear team, which boasts a team of leading and innovating industry experts. Collaborate with top-tier civil, mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to deliver projects from concept to completion. At AECOM, you’ll thrive in an inclusive and forward-thinking environment where your contributions are valued.
And let's not forget about the perks at AECOM. You'll enjoy a range of core and personalised benefits designed to support your future and well-being, customised to fit your lifestyle. Take advantage of career development opportunities, our flexible hybrid working model to ensure a work-life balance, technical practice networks, AECOM University, and volunteering days.
Qualifications
Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?

* Strong understanding of planning best practices and schedule quality metrics.
* Knowledge of Earned Value Management principles.
* Proficient in schedule risk modelling tools
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
