Senior Commissioning Engineer Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30am 17:00pm Location: Gillingham, Remote Salary Range: Up to £45,000 Contract type: Permanent Your next role As a Fire Alarm Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for the testing, configuration, and handover of fire alarm and suppression systems to the highest standards. You'll ensure full compliance with BS5839-1 and project-specific requirements, working closely with project managers and installation teams to deliver systems that meet design specifications and exceed client expectations. What you will be doing Commission addressable, conventional, and gaseous fire alarm systems in line with BS5839-1 and project specifications. Configure, test, and document Cause & Effect scenarios and system integrations, including graphical interfaces. Work with a range of fire alarm systems such as Advanced, Kentec, Notifier, Siemens, Gent, and EST. Collaborate with project managers and installation teams to ensure smooth, timely project delivery. Lead system handovers, including client demonstrations, BCO sign-offs, and consultant witness tests. Identify and escalate technical issues, delays, or risks throughout the commissioning process. Maintain accurate commissioning documentation, reports, and compliance certifications. Provide excellent customer service and post-commissioning technical support when needed. Who we are looking for A minimum of 10 years experience commissioning fire detection systems. Completed FIA modules 1, 2, 3, or updated equivalent certifications. Proven experience with leading fire alarm brands and technologies. Strong problem-solving and fault-finding capabilities. Confident in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specs. IT literate with a solid understanding of networked systems. Organised, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Clear and professional communicator with a client-focused mindset.
