As an experienced and autonomous practitioner, the post holder will be providing a highly specialist adult Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) service for acute and community clients across the localities of Harrogate & Rural district and Hambleton & Richmondshire districts, with complex swallowing needs. The role includes providing consultative specialist advice, training and support for SLTs working in the field of dysphagia and the training, overseeing and evaluation of instrumental services including videofluroscopy & Fibre-optic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) Service.
Main duties of the job
This post is part of the triumvirate team (Adult SLT Principal, SLT Harrogate Team lead and Service Manager) leading and managing the adult SLT service within the Planned, Surgical & Children’s Care directorate. The triumvirate will be responsible and accountable for quality, performance and financial delivery for all elements of their service.

· Support their triumvirate in developing and improving their services to be safe, effective and efficient.
· Be accountable for the sustained delivery of key operational service standards, and be responsible and accountable for delivering financial budgets.

· Have responsibility for developing the culture within their Services, making it a great place to work.
· Have responsibility to improve the quality and safety of their services. In addition, it is expected that in fulfilling a leadership role you will be proactive in promoting and using the Harrogate Quality Improvement Model
· Ensure that risk is properly managed within their services, using appropriate risk assessments and taking appropriate steps to mitigate these risks.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* A recognised SLT Degree or equivalent
* HCPC licence to practice
* Post registration specialist course at masters level or equivalent experience
* RCSLT membership
* Evidence of successful study at a Master’s degree level or specialist development and training such as Advanced Dysphagia
* Evidence of successful completion of instrumental swallowing assessment competencies, including Level 3 video fluoroscopy
* RCSLT level 3 FEES assessor and endoscopist competencies
* Evidence of successful completion of advanced training, including self-study, relevant to specialist clinical area.
* Active membership of relevant Clinical Excellence Networks
* Successful completion of practice educator or supervision training
