This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to help make a real difference to adults in acute care mental health services in North Wales. The senior post is to provide psychological input and oversight in acute care psychology services in Hergest Unit, Ysbyty Gwynedd. Core aims are to lead the development and delivery of a biopsychosocial multidisciplinary team (MDT) for acute care, provide specialised psychological assessments and interventions within adult mental health inpatient settings, and offer expert advice, consultation, training and supervision in psychological approaches with the acute care pathway in mind. The post holder will also deliver direct expert psychological clinical input to service users and families and support staff through training, supervision and interventions. The post holder will receive professional and line management support from within a friendly and growing AMH Clinical Psychology & Psychological Services Department. Main Duties
 * Serve as an active and integrated member of the inpatient multidisciplinary mental health team.
 * Provide a highly specialised clinical psychology service to clients of the sector, including specialised psychological assessment and therapy and staff consultation.
 * Work autonomously in accordance with the British Psychological Society Code of Conduct, Ethical Principles and Guidelines 2004, and the Health and Care Professions Council.
 * Plan and deliver individual and group interventions, both directly and via the guidance of MDT members.
 * Handle a specialist clinical psychology caseload of adult clients with complex mental health presentations in an inpatient setting, including offering specialist neuropsychological assessments, formulation, and interventions.
 * Provide effective clinical leadership by demonstrating excellence in assessment, formulation, evidence-based intervention and offering advice and consultation in complex clinical cases to other health professionals, acting as a specialist resource to the wider professional community.

Location & Contract
 * Location – Hergest Unit, Ysbyty Gwynedd, Penrhosgarnedd, Bangor, LL57 2PW.
 * Contract – Permanent, Part‑time.
 * Reference – 050-PST144-1025.
 * Band – Band 8b.
 * Pay – £65,424 to £76,021 per annum, pro‑rata.
Qualifications & Experience
 * Good Honours degree in Psychology.
 * Eligibility for British Psychological Society Chartered status.
 * Post‑graduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent) accredited by the British Psychological Society.
 * Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Clinical Psychologist.
 * Substantial assessed experience as a qualified and senior clinical psychologist, normally including significant post‑qualification experience within the designated speciality.
 * Demonstrated specialist training through extensive clinical supervision by a senior psychologist.
 * Experience of applying clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
 * Experience representing psychology within multidisciplinary care settings.
 * Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis in clinical psychology.
 * Ability to speak Welsh (desirable).
Desirable
 * Well‑developed knowledge of specialised psychological therapies in difficult‑to‑treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, additional disabilities).
 * Knowledge of neuropsychological assessment and related advanced metrics.
 * Experience of representing psychology across cultural contexts.
Additional Requirements
 * Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) – Disclosure & Barring Service check required.
 * Current UK professional registration.
