Join dynamic and evolving therapy teams at Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospitals as part of UHB. This rotational role will enable you to develop clinical and interdisciplinary team working skills and support your career development. You will work across a variety of clinical areas including Macmillan, HCOP, Medicals, ED, Short Stay Therapy, Solihull IMC, T&O and Respiratory, alongside the new ‘Home first’ rotation. The Home first rotation is a new OT rotation designed to let you establish skills in functional assessments and clinical decision making to support discharge planning and the Home first strategy.
Job responsibilities
Provide therapeutic assessment, management and treatment of patients in acute hospital and community settings, focusing interventions on a wide variety of clinical cases. Apply Occupational Therapy knowledge and the OT process, with a strong focus on facilitating discharges home or to other care pathways and supporting patients in the outpatient community setting.
Possess excellent communication, prioritisation and organisational skills and have experience working in a multidisciplinary team. Undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain associated records. Assist with supervision, education and co‑ordination of generic Therapy Support Workers and Junior therapists. Willingness to participate in seven-day working is required.

Qualifications
* Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy
* Registered with HCPC
* Evidence of CPD including recent postgraduate training relevant to the clinical speciality
* Evidence of leadership training
* Good standard of general education including GCSE
* English and maths grade C or above
* Fieldwork Educator’s certificate or attendance at a Clinical Educators Course
Experience
* Demonstrates clinical experience enabling the post holder to manage a caseload of patients with complex needs in this speciality. This would usually be approximately 12 months and will include experience in discharge planning.
* A specialist knowledge across a range of OT treatments, routine and non‑routine, requiring expertise within the field of occupational therapy
* An ability to cope with a range of complex options, find solutions, analyse, compare and decide on appropriate course of action.
* Understanding of current legislation and application to OT
* Experience of supporting students and more junior therapy staff
* An understanding of discharge routes in the community
Additional criteria
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive and contentious information
* IT skills – computer literate in email, Word & PowerPoint
* Ability to prioritise and organise own workload
* Demonstrated enthusiasm for speciality and professional attitude

* Ability to work varied shift patterns commensurate to service area
* Desirable – ability to drive with maximum 3 points on a driving licence
