Now, we're looking for committed and compassionate ASC (Autistic Spectrum Conditions) Teaching Assistants to support pupils in Weston-Super-Mare and the surrounding areas.
This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to support children and young people on the autistic spectrum in specialist SEN schools. As a ASC Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and develop socially, emotionally and academically in a nurturing, structured environment.
What you'll be doing:
Supporting students with ASC on a 1:1 or small group basis
Assisting with communication, sensory regulation and life skills development
Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs and behaviour plans
Working closely with SEN Teachers, therapists, and support teams
Promoting inclusion, independence, and emotional wellbeing
What we're looking for:
Experience supporting children or young people with ASC
Previous work or voluntary experience in SEN schools or care settings
A calm, consistent, and nurturing approach
An understanding of sensory processing needs and communication challenges
A valid, enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Relevant training (e.g. Team Teach, Makaton, PECS, Autism Awareness) is highly desirable.
The role:
Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, term time only
Pay: from £90 per day
Flexible: part-time or full-time options available
Start: Immediate starts available (with potential for permanent contracts for the right person)
Location: North Somerset
