Our Trust is recruiting enthusiastic, highly motivated community midwives/birth centre midwives to join our dynamic, dedicated, forward-thinking professional team which serves a wide geographical area with rural and urban communities.
You will need to be reliable, flexible, motivated, have excellent clinical skills, a commitment to ongoing learning and development, a commitment to delivering high quality care, and be willing and open to embracing positive change and transformation in order to meet the demands of the community we serve. You will require the necessary skills and a passion to provide home birth and births within a birth centre.

Role and Responsibilities
The role involves working within the community as an autonomous practitioner within a multi-disciplinary team. It also involves maintaining a good relationship with other members of the team ensuring the women receive safe care.
* Provide high quality women-centred maternity care, effective leadership, optimise teaching opportunities and give support to all grades of staff; planning and directing activities to provide the optimal standard of care.
* Offer appropriate education to women and their families and provide necessary care, advice and supervision throughout the pregnancy continuum.
* Ensure appropriate referrals for mother or child, as required, to other agencies and specialist midwifery teams and give necessary care advice and supervision to women and their families wherever possible/appropriate.
About the Work Setting
We operate from three main hospitals — Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
