We are seeking an experienced, committed and compassionate SENCo to join our dedicated team at a thriving secondary school near Braintree. The Role
As SENCo, you will lead and manage the schools provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), working closely with senior leaders, teachers, support staff, parents and external agencies. You will play a pivotal role in shaping inclusive practice across the school and championing high expectations for all learners.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead on the strategic development and day-to-day operation of SEND provision
· Ensure effective identification, assessment and support for students with SEND
· Manage and review Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
· Work collaboratively with teaching staff to embed inclusive classroom practice
· Line-manage and support SEND and intervention staff
· Liaise with parents/carers, external professionals and local authorities
· Monitor and evaluate the impact of SEND interventions and support strategies
· Ensure statutory requirements and SEND Code of Practice guidance are met
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
· Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
· The National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to achieve it)
· Experience of SEND provision within a secondary school setting
· Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
· Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
· A warm, calm and inclusive approach, with high aspirations for students
· The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative leadership team
