The post holder will facilitate the delivery of a hairdressing facility within HMP & YOI Stirling. You will be responsible for the effective management and development of women and young people in custody. You will support women and young people in custody in gaining appropriate work experience and nationally recognised qualifications aimed at improving their employment prospects on release. You will provide direct training and assessment of relevant skills for women in custody as well as provide support for training provided by external partners within the function.
Responsibilities
1. Deliver certified training to meet targets set for the establishment in accordance with the Performance Contract.
2. Effectively train, instruct, and assess prisoners in the theory and practice required to achieve the standards set by the relevant examining body or training organisation.
3. Liaise with external partners regarding service delivery options and training requirements, ensuring delivery partners are appropriately inducted and vetted prior to working in the custodial environment.
4. Maintain security and discipline in the workplace, in accordance with SPS security standards, ensuring the security of young people and women in custody.
5. Record and complete all routine information, documentation, and communications including attendance, wages, and PR2 case management entries.
6. Ensure effective use of resources: budget, prisoner numbers, wages, materials, and equipment within the functional area.
7. Support other offender outcome/residential functional areas to ensure effective service delivery.
8. Maintain a safe, healthy, and standards-compliant working environment through regular hazard identification and risk assessments.
9. Support, guide, and assist the work of prisoners employed within the functional area, ensuring compliance with SPS rules, regulations, and operating standards.
10. Ensure effective maintenance of machinery and equipment in accordance with maintenance plans and regulations.
11. Ensure all prisoners, staff, and partners adhere to Health & Safety requirements, safe systems of work, and hygiene standards.
