Responsibilities
* Split your time between Chelmsford Probation and Chelmsford Prison.
* Work with clients who are 6–12 months pre‑ and post‑release, focusing on providing effective through‑the‑gate support.
* Ensure each individual has a clear, structured plan in place for release.
* Meet clients one‑to‑one, supporting them across key areas such as housing, resettlement, healthcare, education, wellbeing, life skills, and employment.
* Deliver tailored 1:1 sessions and signpost to relevant services both within the prison and in the community, ensuring continuity of support after release.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience working with individuals in the criminal justice system (e.g., prison or probation settings).
* Experience supporting vulnerable individuals in areas such as mental health, substance misuse, or homelessness is welcomed.
* Criminology graduates with relevant voluntary or paid experience supporting similar client groups are encouraged to apply.
* Possible previous roles include Prison Officer, Probation Officer, Resettlement Worker, Supported Housing Officer, Drug & Alcohol Worker, Careers Advisor, Employment Advisor, or Hostel Worker.
