Crawley College is seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Officer to join our Estates & Facilities team. This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, motivated individual to play a key role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-functioning environment for our students, staff, and visitors. About the Role: As our Maintenance Technician (Electrical), you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of our campus facilities. Reporting to the Estates Manager and working as part of the Estates Team, you will: Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across College buildings. Diagnose and repair electrical faults in a safe and timely manner. Complete maintenance tasks allocated via the College helpdesk system. Support statutory compliance inspections relating to electrical systems and building services. Liaise with and supervise external contractors working on electrical installations and repairs. Assist the Estates team with emergency light testing, drain downs, and associated repairs. Ensure all works are carried out in line with current electrical regulations and safe working practices. Maintain accurate records of works completed, inspections, and compliance documentation. Support minor project works and campus improvements as required. This role is Monday to Friday, with working hours as outlined below. We are willing to offer flexibility in working patterns, job shares and part-time working arrangements, subject to business needs and operational requirements. Mon Tues Weds Thurs Fri 8:00-16:30 8:00-16:30 8:00-16:30 8:00-16:30 8:00-16:00 About You: We are looking for a qualified and experienced electrical professional with a strong background in building maintenance or electrical installation. You will essentially hold: NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or Electrical Maintenance City & Guilds 18th Edition (BS 7671) You should be a proactive, reliable, and hands-on technician with strong fault-finding skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills and a flexible approach to workload and priorities are essential. Experience within an educational or public sector environment would be an advantage but is not essential.
