This is a pivotal role at HPFT that involves overseeing the development of data models to support operations and decision-making. The Senior Data Analyst will design and implement robust data models and data sets, ensuring data integrity and accessibility across various departments. The role supports other team members in SQL proficiency and contributes to the optimisation of data workflows and data-driven strategies within HPFT. The individual will collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to understand their data needs and translate data insights into actionable recommendations to support continuous improvement of healthcare services. The ability to communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders and to align data models with NHS standards and regulations is essential. This role fosters a data-informed culture within HPFT to drive efficiency and improve patient outcomes.


Responsibilities

* Development of data models to support HPFT\'s operations and data-led decision-making
* Support the design and implementation of robust data models and data sets, ensuring data integrity and accessibility across various departments
* Manage complex data queries using advanced SQL skills and support other team members in SQL proficiency
* Collaborate closely with clinical and administrative staff to understand their data needs and provide tailored solutions
* Translate data insights into actionable recommendations to support the continuous improvement of HPFT\'s services
* Support the optimisation of data workflows and enhance data-driven strategies within the organisation
* Communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively
* Maintain compliance with the Trust\'s Anti-Discriminatory Statement, Employee Charter, Trust Policies and Procedures, Code of Conduct, and Equality and Diversity
* Foster a data-informed culture within HPFT, driving efficiency and improving outcomes for service users and carers


Qualifications and Desirable Criteria

* Advanced SQL skills, including the ability to manage complex data queries
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Desirable criteria: Experience with Power BI
* Desirable criteria: Experience with R coding, evidence of education and/or training in data analytics or information management concepts
* Advanced SQL certification or equivalent experience
* Master\'s degree in a relevant field
* Membership of professional bodies such as the British Computer Society (BCS); experience in building and managing data sets using SQL
* Experience in supporting or mentoring team members in technical tasks
* Experience with NHS data sets including MHSDS
* Experience in implementing data governance frameworks

Communications

The Senior Data Analyst is required to engage in formal and informal communication methods to effectively manage responsibilities. This role involves regular interaction with clinical and administrative staff, performance and analytics teams, data warehouse and integration teams, and service leads across the Trust. The role requires maintaining confidentiality and adhering to relevant UK data protection laws, and the ability to convey complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders through reports, presentations, and data visualisations. The post holder must handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism, ensuring clear and respectful communication. By fostering open and transparent communication, the Senior Data Analyst supports the continuous improvement of healthcare services and a data-informed culture within HPFT.
