Job Overview
Operating Department Practitioner or Anaesthetic Nurse with UK Anaesthetic qualification and experience required. The role is based for the majority of time at Poole Hospital but cross‑site work at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital is required. Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week with full flexibility, 24/7/365 shift working. Current UK Registration and UK Anaesthetic qualification mandatory.
Main Duties
Our theatres cover Orthopaedics & Trauma, Head and Neck, Obstetrics, General, Gynaecology, Day Surgery, Urology, Vascular, Paediatrics, Anaesthetics, Emergency and Recovery. The role involves safe delivery of anaesthetic care across a full 24‑hour service, supporting a range of surgical specialties and contributing to service development and transformation.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* NMC registered Nurse (Advanced Diploma/Degree in Adult Health Nursing) or HCPC registered ODP (Dip (HE) Operating Department Practice)
* UK Recognised Anaesthetic Qualification Essential
* Learning and Assessing in Practice (or equivalent teaching/mentoring qualification)
Knowledge
* Working knowledge of basic operating department routine and surgical specialties undertaken
* Understanding of the surgical patient pathway through the hospital
* Anaesthetic knowledge and skills
* Immediate Life Support / Paediatric Immediate Life Support Qualification
Personal Attributes
* Highly motivated
* Recognises stress in self and others and manages appropriately
* Fully Flexible
Experience
* Experience of working within UK guidance, regulations and procedures.
* Experience of caring for patients with acute and long term conditions.
* Experience of working with Paediatric Anaesthetics.
