Position Description
The Engineering Technician analyzes engine and equipment performance to improve compressor station efficiency and reliability, ensuring compliance with safety policies and regulations. The role supports natural gas compressor stations, including industrial gas turbines, centrifugal compressors, internal combustion engines, reciprocating compressors, and ancillary equipment. The technician collaborates with field technicians and operations specialists for troubleshooting and maintenance, and may work with Environmental Representatives on engine and compressor performance and compliance assessments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Use and understand various test equipment, including equipment for reciprocating engine performance, vibration analysis, ultrasonic leak detection, non-intrusive inspection, borescope, emissions testing, greenhouse gas surveys, thermography, etc.
* Perform routine engine and compressor performance and maintenance analysis using Resonance Systems Lenz, Windrock, and other applicable software.
* Conduct portable emissions testing as needed.
* Identify, report, and help resolve environmental concerns through GHG surveys and leak detection surveys.
* Perform vibration testing and data analysis regularly, supporting vibration mitigation programs.
* Test engines and compressors to establish or correct performance and control system coefficients.
* Provide corrective actions to resolve operational issues and collaborate with plant personnel.
* Monitor mechanical system reliability and participate in reliability meetings.
* Assist in failure analysis and develop standard practices and procedures.
* Document findings and communicate equipment health to management.
* Provide technical assistance, training, and support in equipment operation and maintenance.
* Ensure all work complies with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
* Assist with start-up and commissioning of new equipment as needed.
* Communicate professionally with diverse audiences, demonstrating tact and courtesy.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.
