Band 7

Thank you for your interest in joining Cwm Taf Morgannwg (CTM) University Health Board.

Located in the heart of South Wales, we’re central to Cardiff, Newport, and Swansea. Deeply rooted in our community, as an NHS organisation we are dedicated to providing compassionate patient care and building healthier communities together.

At CTM, you’ll be part of a supportive, inclusive team from diverse nations, cultures and backgrounds. Every role counts, every person matters, and together, we’re creating a space where everyone can thrive.

The Agenda for Change Pay Award for 2026/27 is effective from 1 st April 2026.

We are looking for a dynamic, flexible and experienced registered nurse/ midwife to provide operational leadership in relation to all aspects of infection prevention and control at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.

You will work alongside other members of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Team to drive and support the IPC agenda.

Although the base for this post is the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, the post holder will be expected to work from any site within the Health Board depending on the needs of the service.

If you possess a Master's qualification in IPC or possess equivalent knowledge, skills and experience relevant to the role, we would like to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

* Actively participate in the development and delivery of the Health Board's infection prevention and control strategy.
* Have line management and professional responsibility for the IPC Nursing team.
* Develop and maintain close working relationships with the Lead IPC Nurse/Doctor and other multidisciplinary staff across the HB to ensure delivery of excellent standards of IPC.
* With support of the Lead/ Deputy Lead IPCN, the post holder will provide effective leadership across Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB on an operational level, providing expert clinical advice to clinical and non-clinical areas in relation to all IPC issues and decontamination.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short‑listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. For more information, see ‘Welsh Language Guidance’ in the documents right at the bottom.
