Job title: Learning Assistant
Location: St John Plessington Catholic College
Responsible to: SENDCO
Salary: Grade D, scale points 6-7 £25,989 - £26,403 (FTE), (£20,360 - £20,684 actual)
Contract: Full-time, permanent; 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time only plus INSET days; holidays to be taken in non-term time)
Start date: As soon as possible

We are looking for an enthusiastic Learning Assistant to support our teachers in delivering high quality learning. The successful candidate will be supported by a passionate team of teachers and support staff. Training will be provided for the right person.
Responsibilities
* Promote students' development in a safe, secure, and challenging environment
* Meet the physical/medical needs of the student according to an individual care plan while encouraging independence
* Develop an understanding of the student’s specific needs to help them learn effectively
* Encourage inclusion within the classroom
* Display students' work to reflect their achievement
* Encourage good personal hygiene and assist with necessary self-help skills
* Facilitate small group interventions as directed by the SENDCO (e.g., homework club, social skills)
