Assistant Headteacher with SENCo Responsibilities
Location: Hull / East Riding of Yorkshire
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 per annum (Can be discussed)

GSL Education is recruiting an experienced and committed Assistant Headteacher with SENCo responsibilities to work within a specialist 14–19 vocational education setting. This is a significant leadership opportunity for a professional who is passionate about inclusive education, SEND provision, and improving outcomes for young people with complex needs.
The successful candidate will be a key member of the senior leadership team, contributing to the strategic and operational leadership of the school while leading on SEND provision. This role requires a strong understanding of statutory SEND duties alongside the ability to support staff, students, and families within a specialist environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Headteacher with strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the school.
* Lead SEND provision in line with the SEND Code of Practice and statutory requirements.
* Carry out SENCo duties, including oversight of EHCPs, annual reviews, and Local Authority liaison.
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision and student outcomes.
* Contribute to curriculum development, particularly vocational pathways and preparation for employment, education, or training.
* Lead and support staff in inclusive teaching, differentiation, and SEND strategies.
Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo), or willingness to complete within an agreed timeframe.
* Significant experience working with SEND learners, ideally within SEMH, Alternative Provision, or vocational settings.
* Leadership or management experience at middle or senior level.
* Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, EHCP processes, and safeguarding.
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
