Healthcare Assistant – Outpatients
Beaumont Hospital, Bolton – 37.5 hrs/week, Permanent – Salary: £24,497 per year.
Overview
We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Outpatients department at Beaumont Hospital. This full‑time role requires covering a flexible shift pattern.
Duties
* Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care and mobility needs.
* Help patients with eating, drinking and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
* Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment.
* Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
* Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care set‑up, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention and mobility aids.
* Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds and equipment in readiness for patient use.
* Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community or domiciliary).
* Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
* Ability to follow instructions and raise concerns appropriately.
* Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
* Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable.
* Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control and confidentiality procedures.
