Band 6 CAMHS Mental Health Practitioner - Bristol
We are seeking keen and capable clinicians for a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner role within the South Bristol CAMHS team. We work with children and young people with complex mental health needs using the CAPA model of assessment and treatment. The service covers a range of clinical presentations and needs, including suicidal thoughts, low mood, anxiety, OCD and emerging psychosis, often alongside neurodiversity. There are opportunities to work within the clinic focused on disordered eating and diagnosed Eating Disorders if this interests you.
We are looking for practitioners with a core professional registration, including registered nurses, social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists, art therapists and CBT therapists. Responsibilities
* To work within a highly experienced multidisciplinary team to provide assessment and treatment of children and young people with serious and complex mental health difficulties.
* To work with and support the system around the child or young person, including family and wider professional network.
* To contribute to the rota/duty system, providing telephone support and advice to young people, carers and professionals open to South Bristol CAMHS.
* Where required, contribute to the CAMHS Getting Advice team to support triaging referrals made to the wider CAMHS service.
* Open to newly qualified social workers; note the AWP policy regarding progression and ASYE timelines as described in the job information.
Job Description – Key Qualifications and Responsibilities
* Carry out assessments of a child or young person’s mental health needs and associated risk when required, including deliberate self-harm assessments.
* Assess, develop, implement and evaluate therapeutic interventions and manage your own caseload from referral to discharge.
* Work jointly with staff from other agencies in direct work with children and young people and their families.
* Assess child safeguarding issues for each case, practice within local safeguarding guidelines, share and refer concerns appropriately, and participate in multi-agency safeguarding conferences.
Person Specification
Essential
* Relevant professional qualification (e.g., clinical psychology, mental health nursing, social work, family therapy).
* Maintain current professional registration.
Desirable
* Additional post-qualification training in assessment and therapeutic approaches in CAMHS.
Knowledge
* Experience of delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions, preferably with children and adolescents.
* Experience of risk assessment and management with children and young people, including those who are suicidal or pose a risk to self/others.
* Knowledge of working together arrangements in particular, Children in Need assessments, Clinical Risk assessment and Child Protection guidelines.
Skills
* Ability to work with children, young people and families from diverse social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
