Job overview
Community Occupational Therapist (Adult)
Band 7
Highly specialist Occupational Therapist with experience of working in the community. Work with vulnerable adults to provide expert assessment and advice, and arrange service provision to improve independence, promote safety and adapt the environment. Contribute to day to day running of the service, and service improvement. Offer line management and supervision to occupational therapists and occupational therapy technicians. Working within adult social care to include; duty/triage, major adaptations and localities.

Main duties of the job
1. Assess functional needs of adults in their home environment, recommend and implement an occupational therapy plan to optimise function and quality of life.
2. Ensure that assessment and intervention are culturally sensitive.
3. Contribute to overall operation of the service.
4. Support the team development in a specific area of community occupational therapy, e.g. intake and duty, complex manual handling, major adaptations.
5. Supervision of occupational therapists and occupational therapy technicians.

• Croydon University Hospital
• Purley Hospital
• The Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre in Thornton Heath
• Community bases at Purley, Sanderstead, New Addington, Broad Green, Woodside
• A minor injuries unit in New Addington
