Join our supportive library team and gain valuable hands-on experience while you learn. This role offers an excellent first step into employment as a Library Apprentice at Chichester College, working alongside experienced staff while completing your Level 2 Customer Service Apprenticeship.
Our busy library provides a welcoming and effective learning environment for students at all levels. As a key member of the team, you will help deliver high-quality services, support students in using library resources, and contribute to a range of administrative and operational tasks.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide high quality customer service for students, staff and external stakeholders.
* To provide front line customer service on the Library Issue and Help Desks helping students and staff find and use resources.
* To perform a range of routine duties necessary to the running of the library including shelving and shelf-tidying, the post, overdue books, processing library stock, cash-handling, equipment maintenance, basic IT support etc.
* Work with colleagues to maintain a welcoming environment in the library, ensuring information and signage is up to date and reporting maintenance needs.
* Attend and participate in Team Meetings.
* Create displays of resources to promote literacy and reading for pleasure.
* Assist the Library team with other relevant duties, as required.

Working Week: 37 hours per week Monday – Friday - Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri 8.30am – 5.00pm. Wed 9.00am – 5.00pm with one hour for lunch each day and one day for study
Salary: £14,566 per annum in line with the Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (For further information please see below)
Qualifications Required: GCSE Math and English minimum grade 4 is desired
Future Prospects: You will achieve your Customer Service Level 2 Apprenticeship which can lead on to a variety of other roles possibly within CCG

What you should know:
* This role is based at Chichester College. Learning will be remote although occasional classroom attendance may be required.
* The college has a refectory and gym for staff use.
* Free online car parking on site for staff who have registered their vehicle.
* This is a 16-month apprenticeship including end point assessment.
* Applicants MUST BE resident in the UK for a minimum of 3 years prior to the start of learning and have work authorisation for the UK.
* Applicants WILL NOT BE eligible to apply if they have already achieved a qualification which is equal to or higher thank the apprenticeship standard on offer.
* Applicants MUST BE resident in the area local to the apprenticeship opportunity or be prepared to relocate in time to start employment and study.
* Applicants MUST BE committed to the learning and stay to the end of the apprenticeship.
* Successful applications will require satisfactorily meeting the College's employment checks including an Independent Safeguarding Authority and/or Criminal Record Bureau Check, Health Assessment, References, Qualifications and legal entitlement to work in the UK.
Further Information: Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £8.00 per hour (As of the 1st April This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16- to 18-year-old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum Wage appropriate to their ages applies.
