We have an exciting opportunity to join Sussex Police as a Police Staff, PIP2 Crime Investigations Supervisor within the Criminal Investigation Department, Brighton & Hove Division, based at Crowhurst Rd, Hollingbury.
The role is applicable to those who are already PIP2 investigators who would like to progress their career to become a Supervisor on Brighton and Hove CID. Or those whom are a PIP1 Supv with expectation of taking the Investigators exam and passing within 12 months

PIP 2 Investigators are responsible for investigating Serious and Complex Crime which involve High Risk Offenders and Victims of crime in a variety of crime types.
Crime Investigations Supervisors that are PIP2, will be required to work closely with Police Staff and Police Officer colleagues not only in CID, but across the Division to ensure that we provide the best possible service to victims of crimes. Delivery of our Force priorities is crucial - Catching Criminals, Protecting our Communities and Delivering an outstanding service. This role is varied, challenging, and sometimes tough but ultimately rewarding.
To attend the scenes of serious crimes, and direct police resources in order to preserve and gather evidence, protect people from harm, and identify and apprehend suspects.
The role requires unsociable hours working which includes day, evening and weekend shifts. You will also be required to be part of a night duty rota.
To supervise the Interviewing and processing of suspects in custody
Attend Court when required to do so either Coronors, Magistrates or Crown Court
Support Continuous Professional Development for trainee and accredited Detective Constable and Crime Investigators on your team
Be accountable to your Managers for your teams performance. Reports to Detective Inspector, Investigations
A requirement of the role is that you are already PIP level 2 accredited or equivalent experience in conducting investigations into serious crime, supported by your Supervisor for career progression or transfer.
If not PIP 2 accredited, the candidate MUST have Police Supervisory experience and be prepared to achieve National Investigators’ Examination (NIE) and PIP 2 accreditation within 18 months of appointment.
Skills & Experience
Your application should be between 500 -1000 words and should evidence the following:
Applicants for this role must hold PIP 2 level accreditation in investigating crime or Police Supervisory experience.
Experience in PIP level 2 investigations (serious and complex) and deep understanding of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 and the Criminal Procedure and Investigation Act 1996 are essential.
Possession of current full UK Driving Licence;
Team management and development skills are required along with experience in reviewing investigations, setting effective lines of enquiry and rigorously monitoring investigative standards.
Developing and supportively managing staff with clear performance objectives is also key.
The ability to work under pressure, have a methodical approach to work, as well as the ability to meet competing deadlines.
The ability to work as part of as well as motivate and lead a team
Ability to independently exercise own judgement in a consistent manner, within confines of legislation and agreed procedures
The ability to work with other agencies and partners
Have excellent communication skills both written and orally
