About the Role

:

We are seeking an enthusiastic Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager to join our Central Region, based at Sawston, Cambridgeshire, covering the Central/Southern areas. Reporting to the Group Health & Safety Director and Regional Directors and working as part of our small team of busy, hard-working, and highly motivated health & safety professionals.

This is a full time, permanent role. 40 hours per week, Mon – Fri.

Duties of the Role:

1. Liaison with Quality, Environmental, Social Value and Sustainability teams, insurance department, HR and Cranes and Lifting / Plant / Site Services teams.
2. Support prequalification and bidding / planning process.
3. Assist in preparation of fire risk assessments, traffic management plans, H&S Plans, Environmental Impact Assessments, etc.
4. Carry out accident and incident investigations and follow up action.
5. Prepare, develop, and deliver internal training to company employees.
6. Carry out site toolbox talks / respirator face-fit testing.
7. Carry out fixed premises inspections / audits.
8. Noise surveys, light surveys and assessments.
9. Assist review of procedures and site documentation
10. Complete audits and inspections to support OHSAS 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 accredited management systems.
11. Produce reports for management meetings, investigations, etc.
12. Participate in industry and local safety groups.
13. Supporting with auditing – we have several accreditations in our business including OHSAS 45001, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001.
14. Visiting approximately 1 per site per month plus and providing regional support at head office for preconstruction, tender, procurement, etc.
15. Fortnightly site safety inspections – ‘scored’ site safety inspections are completed by our independent Safety Consultants who are an integral part of our business.
16. High degree of autonomy – so must be reliable and able to work on own initiative.
17. National travel / nights away will be required occasionally including to head office and other regional offices for meetings and training.

Key Skills & Experience Required:

18. Good communication and ‘people skills’ – you will be dealing with our clients, subcontractors, consultants and suppliers as well as our own staff at all levels and in many disciplines.
19. Experience of a multi-site / multi-discipline organisation is desirable.
20. A strong background in construction and building is essential, as is a good base knowledge.
21. Experience of environmental / waste issues
22. Qualified to or working towards level 6 vocational qualifications or NEBOSH certificate level with Chartered IOSH membership.
23. Current, CSCS card – Health & Safety Manager.
24. DBS and BPSS checks will also be required
25. Flexibility, energy, and enthusiasm.
26. Forward thinking, knowledgeable, reliable, and organised.
27. You will need to see the job through to completion and be dependable.
28. Full driving license.
