The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development and progression of goalkeepers across the Academy and into the First Team environment, with a particular focus on the Professional Development Phase (PDP) and High Potential Players (HPP). The Senior Transition Goalkeeping Coach will play a key role in this process.
The role involves close collaboration with both Academy and First Team goalkeeping staff to ensure a consistent and progressive development pathway. The post holder will also contribute to goalkeeper recruitment, conduct match and training observations, and provide ongoing support to Derby County goalkeepers while they are on loan.
Key Role Responsibilities:
•Deliver high-quality coaching sessions for Academy goalkeepers within the PDP phase and HPP group.
•Support the transition of goalkeepers between Academy, Loan, and First Team environments.
•Collaborate with the Head of Goalkeeping to align methodologies, standards, and playing philosophies.
•Monitor and evaluate goalkeeping performance, providing regular feedback and Individual Development Plans (IDPs).
•Conduct scouting and recruitment assessments for potential Academy and First Team goalkeepers.
•Observe and report on the progress of Derby County goalkeepers currently out on loan.
•Maintain accurate records of training sessions, match performances, and development outcomes.
•Contribute to the design and delivery of individual learning plans in line with the Academy’s coaching curriculum and EPPP standards.
•Uphold the Club’s values and ensure the welfare and holistic development of all Academy players.
•As required, deliver sessions for any Foundation Phase or Youth Development phase age groups to support the goalkeeping provision
Personal characteristics and experience:
•Proven experience coaching goalkeepers within a professional Academy or elite youth environment.
•Strong understanding of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) and Academy development principles.
•Excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills.
•Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
•Commitment to continuous professional development and learning.
•Experience working in a First Team goalkeeping role is desirable.
•Experience supporting goalkeepers transitioning to senior professional football is desirable.
•Familiarity with video analysis software and performance tracking tools is desirable.
•Understanding of modern trends in goalkeeping and long-term player development is desirable.

Salary is competitive, dependent on experience.
This is a full-time role, and due to the demands of professional football, there is a requirement for weekend and evening work, as well as regular national travel.
