About the role:
This role leads our business analytics and research work, helping the council make better decisions through clear, meaningful insight. You’ll guide a small team, build our approach to data and predictive analysis, and turn complex information into something people can understand and act on. Working with services across the council and our partners, you’ll make sure evidence sits at the heart of planning, performance and improvement in Powys.

• Excellent analytical, statistical and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to influence, negotiate and build collaborative relationships across sectors
• Skilled in data visualisation, automation and predictive analytics
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present insight clearly to all audiences
What you will do:
• Lead the council’s business analytics and research function, developing innovative BI capability
• Design and deliver integrated analytics, predictive models and automated insight systems
• Provide timely, accurate intelligence to support strategic planning, performance and policy
• Manage stakeholder relationships, acting as a business partner to senior leaders
• Oversee development of interactive dashboards and visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI)
• Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements and support continuous improvement
