This is a pivotal role in the Hounslow Adult Community Nursing Division, offering you the chance to lead and shape the future of community nursing services across Hounslow, West London. We are seeking someone with vision, drive, and a deep understanding of the complexities of community healthcare.
We are seeking an internal candidate who:
• Has a professional clinical qualification and registration with NMC and Masters degree level education or equivalent experience.
• Has significant senior operational leadership experience in community nursing or similar settings.
• Demonstrates a strong track record of service delivery, staff management, and financial oversight.
• Is passionate about equity, inclusion, and continuous quality ,improvement.
• Can lead teams through complex change while maintaining a clear focus on patient outcomes and key service performance indicators.
• Evidence of continuing professional and personal development
• Has experience and ability to work with managed and independent health professionals and external agencies
• Has a good understanding of relevant legislation relating to Clinical Governance, Health & Safety, NHS Codes of Conduct and employment law
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Deputy Director of Clinical Services Hounslow Community Healthcare, you will be responsible for the strategic management and operational delivery of a portfolio of services within Hounslow Adult Community Nursing Services The services are:
• Adult Community Nursing Service
• Adult Specialist Nursing
• Night Nursing Service
• End of life Care
• Care Home Support Team
• Hounslow Night Nursing Service
Please note that the role is not limited to the services listed above; the portfolio may change in line with business needs and service transformation. The post holder must demonstrate flexibility and wiliness to assume new responsibilities to as required to support strategic objectives

Essential criteria
1. Masters degree level education or equivalent experience
2. Experience and ability to work with managed and independent health professionals and external agencies
3. A professional clinical qualification and registration with NMC
4. Current knowledge/understanding of the NHS and community care service delivery
5. Able to practically apply a range of specialist knowledge and expertise to leadership of given service areas
6. An awareness of the challenges of working in a matrix model managing some services on a locality basis and specialist services which will work across localities
7. Sufficient knowledge of accounting principles to enable good
8. understanding of budget planning and financial decision making
9. Understanding of relevant legislation relating to Clinical Governance, Health & Safety, NHS Codes of Conduct and employment law
10. Ability to analyse and review a range of diverse and highly complex, and sometimes conflicting information
Experience
Essential criteria
11. Experience of working in an NHS organisation at an Agenda for Change Band 8a level for over a year
12. Experience of effectively managing and leading a clinical team
13. Experience of working in multi - disciplinary services
14. Experience of developing care pathways and protocols
15. Experience of managing relationships with key partners, including GPs,
16. local authorities and other agencies
17. Experience of leading complaint and untoward incident investigations and writing reports and responses
18. Experiencing of implementing clinical audits, drawing up and implementing resulting action plans and reviewing progress
19. Experience of developing and managing a service/departmental budget
20. Experience of developing services to work across organisational boundaries
21. Significant personnel management experience, including recruitment and selection, and managing employee relations issues, eg disciplinary, performance management, grievance etc
