Role : Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineer Location : Swindon / Reading / Gloucester / Bristol Salary : Up to £45,000 / 40 hours / Door to door/ 33 days holiday / 1 in 5 weekends / Van - not tracked We are seeking an experienced and motivated Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineer to join our team in the South West. We are a respected, long-established building services organisation who specialise in the commercial refrigeration and catering industry. Key Responsibilities Carry out service, maintenance and repair works on a range of commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems. ( Coldrooms,Ice Machines, Bottle coolers, display units, VRV, VRF, Splits ) Diagnose faults and propose effective solutions. Provide excellent customer service and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients. Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and company procedures. Participate in the on-call rota and respond to reactive calls as scheduled. Maintain accurate job records using company-issued phone or tablet (no tracking enabled). Visit the office as required to collect parts, restock vans, or unload equipment. Hours & Working Pattern Contracted Hours: 40 hours per week Typical Day: 8:00am - 5:00pm with a 1-hour lunch break Lunch Pay: If you work a 9-hour day, you will receive pay for the lunch hour at your normal rate Travel Time: Fully door-to-door On-Call Rota: 1 weekday per week 1 weekend in every 5 Salary & Benefits Salary: Up to £45,000 for the right candidate Holiday Entitlement: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays Company Van: Provided (private use not included, but can be discussed if essential) Training: Manufacturer-led technical training Comprehensive health & safety training Equipment: Company phone/tablet supplied (no tracking) Culture & Values: Traditional, well-established business Values honesty, reliability, and strong customer relationships Supportive, stable working environment with no micromanagement Requirements Essential Proven experience in refrigeration and/or air conditioning service engineering NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (or equivalent) F-Gas Category 1 qualification Strong fault-finding skills Full UK driving licence Good communication and customer-facing skills Desirable Experience with commercial sites (retail, hospitality, industrial, etc.) Additional manufacturer or specialist training Electrical qualification (beneficial but not essential) Person Profile The ideal candidate will be: Reliable, honest, and committed to high-quality workmanship Able to work independently with minimal supervision Professional in appearance and attitude Willing to take part in an on-call rota Keen to continue developing skills through training ENG1
