We require a Safeguarding Co-ordinator for maternity cover, initially with a contract of 7 months with the potential to extend for the right candidate. You will provide safeguarding administrative support to 3 practices within The Royal Parks Primary Care Network. You will be working with the Safeguarding leads from each practice to achieve a consistent, safe, and effective team approach to safeguarding.
A good understanding of General Practice, Primary Care Networks and Safeguarding is essential. It would suit someone who is a forward-thinking, innovative, and an enthusiastic individual who is self-motivated and keen to work collaboratively across the network. You should have the ability to be organised, prioritise your workload effectively and exercise sound judgement when faced with conflicting pressures.
Responsibilities
1. Safeguarding policies
Help the practice to ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are up to date and consistent with agreed best practice as defined by local and national guidelines.
1. Safeguarding training
Support the practice in developing/accessing appropriate role-based training for members of staff. Encourage a multidisciplinary approach to safeguarding.
1. Information governance
Provide advice on the recording and coding of safeguarding relevant information within the electronic patient record. Support the preparation of timely, relevant, and proportionate safeguarding reports.
1. Clinical Governance
Facilitate the implementation of templates and other decision support tools to support best practice in safeguarding, as recommended by the Northamptonshire safeguarding team and audit the use of same.
1. Safeguarding assurance
Support the practice in achieving CQC compliance with respect to the safeguarding of staff and patients.
1. MDT facilitator
Ensure the smooth running of an effective practice safeguarding MDT for children and vulnerable adults. Ensure that the practices 'vulnerable patient' register is kept up to date.
1. Working together
Help the practice foster effective relationships with local safeguarding partners. Ensure the timely sharing of relevant information, both verbally and in a structured report, when safeguarding concerns arise in respect of both children and adults.
1. System learning
Support the practice in responding to statutory requests for information required by the local authority to carry out local child or adult safeguarding case reviews and assist the practice with section 42 enquiries. Disseminate learning and support the implementation of review recommendations.
1. Referral pathways
Promote the understanding of local safeguarding referral pathways, including Early Help and support services for victims of domestic abuse.
1. Respect for Patient Confidentiality
The post-holder should always respect patient confidentiality and not divulge patient information unless sanctioned by the requirements of the role.
1. Special Working Conditions
The post-holder is required to travel independently between practice sites (where applicable).
