Are you an experienced Recreation Assistant, wanting to take the next step in your career, or an experienced Senior Recreation Assistant, looking for a new challenge?
We have a great opportunity to join the team at the Newport International Sports Village - home of the Regional Pool and Tennis Centre, and the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales, on a fixed-term basis for three months.
Our Senior Recreation Assistants are key to the efficient performance of our operations team, with responsibility for the supervision of our Recreation Assistants to ensure that all required duties are allocated fairly, and that all work is performed and/or presented to a high standard.
Key responsibilities include:
* Liaising with the Leisure Operations Officer and Receptionists with regards to the programme of activities for each shift, ensuring facilities are prepared accordingly
* Pool Lifeguard duties
* Setting up and de-rigging of sports apparatus and other equipment, ensuring it is appropriate and fit for purpose
* Allocating routine cleaning and public supervision duties to Recreation Assistants
* Supervise the conduct of the public in all areas of our facilities, to safeguard the enjoyment of all users
* Reporting any defects in apparatus and equipment
* Assisting with set-up and de-rigging for large functions and events
Essential for your application:
* Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
* Previous experience working as a Recreation Assistant (or similar) in a leisure facility
* Confidence in clearly communicating with and managing large numbers of people
* Good IT skills
* High attention to detail to deliver exceptional customer service
Beneficial to your application:
* Pool Plant Operator Certificate (essential to the role but not for your application)
* First Aid at Work Certificate (essential to the role but not for your application)
* Ability to communicate in Welsh

This is a full-time, 37 hour per week average role, working on the three-week rota shown below:
Week 1
* Monday - 14:00 - 22:30
* Tuesday - 14:00 - 22:30
* Saturday - 07:45 - 20:30
Week 2
* Wednesday - 05:45 - 15:00
* Thursday - 05:45 - 15:00
* Friday - 05:45 - 15:00
* Saturday - 06:45 - 19:30
Week 3
* Monday - 06:00 - 14:15
* Tuesday - 05:45 - 13:00
* Wednesday - 14:00 - 22:30
* Thursday - 14:00 - 22:30
* Friday - 14:00 - 22:30
The role is available on a fixed-term basis for three months, with possibility of extension.
Salary: £12.60 per hour (current Real Living Wage)
