Have you ever considered a role where protecting people, buildings, and communities is at the heart of what you do?
We're looking for a proactive and customer-focused Property Safety Officer to join our Building Safety & Compliance Team.
This is a hands-on, visible role within our high-rise and sheltered schemes. You will provide reassurance to customers that their homes are safe, compliant and well managed, while playing a key role in responding to fire alarm activations, carrying out safety checks and supporting vulnerable residents.
This role would suit someone who is confident working independently, enjoys engaging with customers daily, and takes pride in maintaining high safety standards within residential buildings.
The role - What You'll be doing
* Liaise with key services across the business when fire alarms are activated to ensure the business responds proportionately to each and every action activation.
* Produce and distribute a report on the cause of each activation and any following action.
* Carrying out person-centred fire risk assessments (PCFRA) for residents who may require additional support.
* Carry out Residential Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (RPEEP) with customers to identify anyone who may not be able self evacuate and complete a person centre fire risk assessment where required.
* Provide practical fire safety advice and reassurance to customers.
* Share fire safety knowledge with other staff including Housing Officers to support with Tenancy Audits and carry out follow on visits where referrals are made the Housing Management Team.
* During office hours be the first point of contact if fire alarms are activated, be present on site and assist the fire service in their duties.
* Work with key business partners in Repairs & Maintenance, Caretakers, Assets and Investment to ensure their work doesn't compromise the safety of our buildings.
* Ensure all customer and employee details are kept up to date and available for the fire service when required.
* Carry out routine checks on fire alarms, high rise buildings and fire door audits ensuring repairs are raised and monitored through to completion.
* Co-ordinate and attend familiarisation visits with the Fire Service, ensuring all required building information, records and documentation are accurate, up to date and readily accessible.
What we're looking for
* Knowledge of fire safety in buildings, in particular high rise.
* An ability to use own initiative and work without constant direct instruction and be able to manage competing priorities reacting to business needs.
* Someone who is customer focussed and has the ability to build positive relationships with them.
* Understand team targets and the need to work towards achieving them.
* Must be able to demonstrate commitment to teamwork and willingness to work flexibly to meet the competing demands of the role.
* The ability to produce inspections schedules, reports, work schedules and specification.
* Previous experience of carrying out similar tasks working in a similar role delivering a high standards of work.
* Must have Full UK driving Licence (with Business Insurance cover)
