About the Role

A supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Lytham St Annes is seeking a committed and knowledgeable Assistant SENCO to join their inclusion team from April 2026. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, ideal for someone passionate about SEND provision and eager to make a measurable difference to young people’s outcomes.

Working closely with the school’s SENCO, you will help shape effective support for pupils with additional needs, strengthen communication with families and external agencies, and ensure statutory responsibilities are met to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

* Support the delivery of SEND provision, including allocating support time and creating/reviewing pupil passports.
* Work closely with the SENCO to oversee the implementation of EHCPs and ensure appropriate provision is in place.
* Liaise with external agencies to ensure pupil needs are met effectively and that statutory requirements are fully fulfilled.
* Maintain accurate, detailed records of meetings and communications with parents and outside agencies.
* Ensure staff are fully informed of pupils’ needs and provide guidance on strategies and areas for development.
* Work with the SENCO and teaching staff to ensure pupil profiles are used to set subject-specific targets and match learning to individual needs.
* Use data effectively to identify underachieving pupils and create targeted action plans to support their progress.
* Advise staff on appropriate teaching and learning strategies to meet diverse needs within the classroom.
* Liaise with parents/carers regarding the support in place for their child, under the direction of the SENCO.
* Use assessment and progress data to monitor pupil progress and report findings to the SENCO and wider SLT.
* Support staff meetings, share key information, and coordinate follow‑up actions.
* Assist in the coordination of access arrangements in partnership with the Examinations Officer.
* Deputise for the SENCO when required in matters relating to SEND.
