We’re recruiting for a UK-based engineering business that designs and manufactures smart, portable electronic systems used in safety-critical environments across the country.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an Electronics Design Engineer to work on connected, real-world products — covering everything from embedded electronics and wireless comms to remote control units and low-power systems.
You’ll also provide occasional mechanical design support, focusing on component layout, weight reduction, or adapting housings in response to part obsolescence or supply chain issues.
You’ll join a small, collaborative team working on full product lifecycle development — from concept and prototyping to testing, production, and iteration. No silos, no red tape — just practical engineering, short feedback loops, and visible impact.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and develop electronic systems for smart transport and control products
* Produce schematics and PCB layouts, integrating sensors, power components, and wireless comms
* Support mechanical layout or enclosure design using SolidWorks as required
* Identify improvements in weight, materials, and durability
* Assist in FMEA, compliance testing, and product approvals
* Ensure compliance with UK product standards (e.g. CE/UKCA, RED, TSRGD)
* Liaise with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are production-ready
* Work cross-functionally with electronics, software, and operations teams
Ideal Background:
* Proven experience in electronic product design (PCBs, embedded systems, low-power or wireless tech)
* Some hands-on experience with mechanical design tools (e.g. SolidWorks)
* Awareness of DFM, FMEA, and relevant UK compliance frameworks
* Bonus: Familiarity with regulated environments or mobile power/control devices
* Degree or HND in Electronics, Systems, or related discipline preferred
Why Apply?
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking engineering team working on cutting-edge technology with real-world applications. You’ll enjoy a varied and rewarding role with opportunities to contribute to meaningful projects and career growth
