A vacancy has arisen for a clinical Health Care Assistant for 18.5 hours per week to support the practice nursing team in the delivery of nursing services. Working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, the Healthcare Assistant will deliver care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population. The Healthcare Assistant will assist clinical staff in providing treatment, preventative care, health promotion, and patient education.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Undertake new patient health checks
2. Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes
3. Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately
4. Undertake wound care, dressings, and other clinical tasks as required
5. Carry out BMI checks as directed
6. Act as a chaperone as required
7. Undertake venepuncture
8. Carry out ECGs
9. Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
10. Provide support during minor operations as required
11. Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
12. Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance
13. Ensure clinical waste sharps bins are replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy
14. Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
