OUR IMPACT
Controls engineering is responsible for building the next-generation firm-wide control plane for our front office desks. The successful candidate will leverage deep technical skills to implement a highly scalable, message-driven architecture processing approximately 3 billion messages per day, making real-time 'safe to trade' determinations. The role also involves developing web applications that enable users to register, develop, and administer controls on the platform.
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Lead a team of engineers to design, build, and maintain a high-performance, high-availability, high-capacity, yet nimble and adaptive platform supporting front-to-back trading systems such as order management, exchange connectivity, smart order routing, internalization, clearing, and securities lending.
* Utilize data to guide decision-making, developing or enhancing tools for data collection as needed.
* Understand market rules, regulations, exchange services, and build systems to facilitate them.
* Communicate with traders, sales, clients, and compliance officers regarding new systems, feature requests, and explanations of existing features.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience.
* Hands-on Java engineering experience with 5+ years in developing Java systems.
* Proven leadership in team management and project delivery with a commercial mindset.
* Experience with Event Sourcing technologies (Kafka, Akka, Spark) and data distribution architectures.
* Experience with NoSQL (MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Hadoop), in-memory (MEMSQL, Ignite), and relational databases (Sybase, DB2, SybaseIQ).
* Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
* Experience in performance analysis and optimization based on data.
* Excellent communication skills and teamwork ability.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience with Kubernetes deployment architectures.
* Experience with Apache NiFi.
* Experience building trading controls within an investment bank.
