Overview

Join InHealth as a Receptionist / Radiographic Assistant at the Jarvis Breast Centre, part of the Surrey & North East Hampshire Breast Screening Service. InHealth is the UKs largest provider of NHS Breast Screening Services, and the Jarvis Centre is one of the busiest in England, supporting around 186,000 women every three years across a static centre and five mobile units. This varied role combines frontline reception duties with radiographic assistant support, giving you the chance to welcome patients, support registration, and ensure a smooth, professional experience. Youll also provide essential behind-the-scenes support to the Mammography team, helping to maintain efficient workflows and high-quality patient care. The role offers a friendly, supportive environment and opportunities to develop skills across administrative and clinical support areas.


Main duties of the job

You will deliver a professional and compassionate reception service, greeting patients and visitors and supporting registration. You will assist the Mammography team by downloading and managing images from mobile screening units onto PACS, tracking image batches, paperwork, and reporting workflows. The role includes liaising with other screening centres and NHS Trusts, preparing documentation to support reporting and arbitration, maintaining records, stock levels, and quality documentation, and supporting clinical and non-clinical colleagues to ensure a smooth patient journey. This post combines desk-based work with some handling of film batches and paperwork, requiring organisation, attention to detail, and a professional, empathetic approach to patients and colleagues.

Job responsibilities

Jarvis Breast Centre Surrey & North East Hampshire

Hours:

* Monday: 1:00pm 5:00pm (4 hrs)
* Wednesday: 8:30am 2:30pm (6 hrs)
* Thursday: 8:30am 2:30pm (6 hrs)
* Friday: 9:00am 4:00pm (6.5 hrs, unpaid half-hour lunch)

Our Surrey and North East Hampshire Breast Screening Service supports an eligible population of around 186,000 women across a three-year screening round, with a team of over 50 dedicated staff working across our static centre and five mobile screening units.

This is a varied and rewarding role combining frontline reception duties with radiographic assistant support to our Mammography team.

Youll be the first point of contact for patients at the Jarvis Breast Centre welcoming them warmly, supporting registration, and ensuring their visit runs smoothly and professionally. Alongside this, youll provide essential behind-the-scenes support to help keep our breast screening service running efficiently and safely.


What youll be doing

* Delivering a professional, compassionate reception service for patients and visitors

* Supporting the Mammography team by downloading and managing imaging from mobile screening units onto PACS

* Tracking image batches, paperwork and reporting workflows accurately

* Liaising with other breast screening centres and NHS Trusts to request and transfer images

* Preparing and checking documentation to support reporting, arbitration and data entry

* Maintaining records, stock levels and quality documentation in line with QMS protocols

* Working closely with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to ensure a smooth patient journey

This role involves a mix of desk-based work and some physical handling of film batches and paperwork.

Youll need

* GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent)

* Strong IT skills and confidence using databases and Microsoft packages

* Experience in an administrative, customer-facing or patient-focused role

* An understanding of confidentiality, data protection and patient care

* The ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to service needs at short notice


Experience that will help you succeed

* Working in a customer service or healthcare environment

* Supporting multidisciplinary teams

* Using multiple IT systems accurately

* Communicating sensitively with patients and the public
