As a Domestic Facilities Assistant, your role is essential in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our hospitals for patients, visitors, and staff. The NHS relies on dedicated individuals like you.
You will join a dynamic and adaptable team focused on cleaning to the highest standards and frequencies to ensure a clean, pleasant, and safe environment, reducing the risk and spread of infection.
Your duties include general and specialised cleaning in clinical and non-clinical areas, following guidance from team leaders, and adhering to safe working practices related to hygiene management.
Main duties of the job
* Perform cleaning and domestic duties as directed by your team leaders
* Organise daily cleaning tasks to meet the needs of the ward or department, including cleaning beds, floors, toilets, sinks, mopping, damp dusting, cleaning internal glass, walls, vacuuming, scrubbing (manual and machine), steam cleaning, and buffing
* Conduct 'deep' and 'specialised' cleans according to training and method statements, including full ward decants when required
* Change bay curtains, bed drapes, and clean blinds
* Collaborate with ward or department teams to respond to work requests from ward matrons or managers, following local protocols and procedures
* Be flexible and adapt to unforeseen requests and tasks as needed
* Follow COSHH regulations and health and safety policies regarding manual handling
* Maintain and clean all cleaning equipment
* Ensure safe segregation and removal of waste following waste management policies
