Role Overview – Year 1: Classroom Experience
As a successful Future Teacher, you'll take on the role of a Cover Supervisor within a secondary school in the Cambridge area. Your responsibilities will include stepping in during short-term teacher absences, ensuring continuity in student learning by overseeing tasks set by the teacher. While there's no active teaching, marking, or planning required at this stage, you'll provide classroom supervision, deliver a high-quality learning experience, and gain valuable insights into the teaching profession.

Year 2: Initial Teacher Training (ITT) with QTS
Following a successful first year in the programme, you’ll progress into the ITT year, during which you’ll undertake formal teacher training. This second year is structured to allow you to:

* Work towards gaining Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Earn while you train, continuing your placement at the same school or a partner school
* Follow a structured curriculum aligned with Department for Education (DfE) standards
* Be mentored by experienced educators and supported by training providers
* Receive regular observations, feedback, and developmental support
* Attend scheduled study days and complete written assignments (as part of your PGCE if applicable)
