IT Services is responsible for providing, developing and maintaining the University's central IT infrastructure and for the delivery of a wide range of technology-based services to both staff and students.
IT Services multi-award-winning apprenticeship programme has been providing career opportunities for young people from the local area since 2012. In this time, over 40 Modern Apprentices have been employed with us on two-year contracts. So far, all IT apprentices who have completed their contract with us have gone on to secure a permanent role as an IT professional.
We are now recruiting for our next Apprentice IT/AV Support Technician. In this important role, you will develop your skills to provide second line IT support to a university community of over 12,500 staff and students. IT Services prides itself on excellent service, and we are looking forward to welcoming our next apprentice into the team to help us maintain this.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, flexible and willing to learn. You will be organised, have good attention to detail, be a team player and have a good working understanding of IT packages such as Microsoft Office. A good standard of English and Maths is essential.
This role will be mentored and supported through the Modern Apprentice programme and it is anticipated that the individual will achieve an SCQF level 6 qualification during their two-year fixed term contract.
Important: The University of St Andrews partners with an apprentice training provider to deliver a SCQF Level 6 qualification in year one of your apprenticeship. In order to secure funding for this training, the provider will have eligibility criteria that you must meet. All applicants must be between the age of 16 – 19 at the time of application.
