A leading global Tier 1 hedge fund is looking to appoint a senior Risk Technology Lead within its London office.
This is a compelling opportunity to work at the heart of a front-office environment, taking ownership of the development and enhancement of business-critical risk systems that directly underpin trading, portfolio construction, and risk management across a multi-asset platform.
You will operate as a senior technical figure, partnering closely with trading, quantitative, and risk teams to design and deliver scalable, high-performance risk solutions. The role offers a balance of hands-on involvement and leadership responsibility, with a strong emphasis on setting technical direction, guiding a team, and driving consistent, high-quality delivery.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the architecture and ongoing development of core risk systems used across trading and portfolio management
• Deliver real-time risk capabilities, including PnL, sensitivities, and scenario analysis
• Act as a key point of interaction between engineering, risk, and front-office stakeholders
• Define and drive best practices across architecture, design, and engineering standards
• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of engineers within a high-performance environment
• Oversee delivery across the full software lifecycle, from requirements through to production
• Remain technically engaged, contributing to key components and code reviews where needed
• Enhance system performance, scalability, and overall platform robustness
Requirements:
• Strong Java engineering experience within low-latency or front-office systems
• Solid understanding of market risk concepts, including PnL, Greeks, and stress testing
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers within a trading or hedge fund environment
• Strong system design and architectural expertise
• Proven ability to work closely with trading, risk, and quantitative teams
• Ability to translate complex requirements into practical, scalable solutions
• Strong communication skills and the ability to operate across technical and business domains
