EWS provides wheelchairs and associated equipment on a long‑term basis to residents living within the London Borough of Enfield who present with a permanent disability impacting on independent mobility. Service user needs are within a range of low need to highly specialist and complex medical need; the service assesses and prescribes equipment based on clinical need.
This post is an integral contributor to the Enfield Wheelchair Service (EWS) team.
The postholder will be a highly specialist clinician responsible for a caseload of medium, high and very specialist need service users, leading on clinical assessment and prescription of wheelchairs and associated equipment which are tailored to meet the individuals assessed needs.
Assessments are made via weekly clinic assessments or at Home visits or venues appropriate to the service user in the community. The therapist will work alone or in conjunction with Rehabilitation Engineers and Special seating engineers, where presenting clinical needs indicate. They will often be the point of contact for service users who contact the service with issues or concerns regarding their wheeled mobility and will respond in a proactive, problem‑solving manner, triaging the appropriate response for effective solution.
