Job Description Summary: This is an exciting newly created opportunity within PayPal’s UK licensed entity in supporting Head of Finance PayPal UK in supervising the financial, accounting, audit and regulatory requirements of the entity.

You will play a pivotal role in supervising financial operations, overseeing everything from financial statement production and audits to regulatory compliance, ensuring the entity's fiscal health remains robust and partner closely with our Global Finance team and local entity management to deliver key results.
Your Primary Responsibility
will include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for production of the financial statements of PayPal UK Ltd. (EMI regulated entity) and coordination of the external audit;
Daily review and monitoring of the safeguarding requirements (investigate and remediate any discrepancy identified), ensure compliance with the safeguarding regulation and coordination of the safeguarding audit;
Preparation for the annual financial budget of the PPUK Ltd.;
Review and approve Regulatory Reporting in compliance with UK regulation;
Preparation of monthly management reporting and monitoring the UK business performance;
Perform risk assessments, identify improvements required in the control and risk management framework and ensure improvements are made in an effective, sustainable and documented way;
Ensure the regulatory compliance of the outsourced activities and control and monitor its performance;
What you need to bring
Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field (MBA preferred)
Recognized professional accounting designation (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is an advantage
5+ years experience in a regulated UK financial services firm or equivalent, with experience in payments, banking or electronic money institutions
Financially astute and fully conversant with accounting systems and principles
Understanding of the UK’s regulatory environment, especially around safeguarding obligations.
Experience of liaising directly with regulators, government bodies and other authorities is an advantage
Excellent market knowledge of existing and competing payments products and retail financial services in the UK
PC literate with a good knowledge of MS Office, e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Confident and assertive when taking a stand and challenging on key issues; can provide direct and objective feedback that is business focused
Able to demonstrate the ability to accurately anticipate outcomes and respond accordingly
Methodical approach to work, with a strong focus on accuracy and an understanding of the need for high quality documentation
Highly organized and can work under pressure to tight deadlines or targets; can adapt to differing demands whilst prioritizing tasks, where appropriate
Able to make decisions and remain calm while under pressure – particularly when dealing with difficult situations
Proven self-starter who is action orientated; can demonstrate proactivity and resilience to overcome obstacles and deliver what is required
Proven ability to deal with confidential matters and with discretion
Complies with PayPal's policies and any other legal/regulatory obligations
