Job Description
The company is a leading manufacturer of plastic parts and components supplied to various industries such as automotive, aerospace, and construction. Pertemps are recruiting on their behalf for a Project/Process Engineer for their operations in the Droitwich area.
Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 per annum
Working hours: Day shift, Monday to Friday
The project engineer role is responsible for managing the NPI lifecycle from initial design to customer approval. The role requires ensuring manufacturing processes are efficient and that the end product is of high quality. The engineer will liaise closely with the tooling department, clients, and internal teams.
Responsibilities and duties include:
1. Analyze engineering and CAD drawings to ensure manufacturing processes are correct, efficient, and that tool designs are accurate.
2. Ensure tooling orders comply with project requirements.
3. Approve tool designs, ensuring alignment with product specifications and cost considerations.
4. Manage toolmakers to adhere to quality and timeline expectations.
5. Resolve manufacturing issues with tooling teams and suppliers.
6. Refine and amend manufacturing processes to optimize quality, cost, and efficiency.
7. Plan and oversee tooling trials.
8. Prepare detailed documentation, including work instructions, setup sheets, and operating procedures.
9. Conduct and present dimensional reports to customers, addressing technical inquiries or concerns.
10. Provide technical support to manufacturing teams and troubleshoot process issues.
11. Assist in resolving production inefficiencies and defects to maintain product quality.
Experience and qualifications:
* Previous experience in a plastics thermoforming environment within a process/project capacity.
* Proven experience in tooling, process development, and project engineering in plastics manufacturing.
* Knowledge of SolidWorks and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
* Experience managing tooling teams.
* Strong time management and organizational skills.
* A degree or HND/HNC in engineering is advantageous but not essential.
* Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools for dimensional analysis and process validation.
* Ability to build professional relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
