King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s largest teaching Trusts with a turnover of around £1.8 billion, 1.5 million patient contacts a year, and more than 15,000 staff across 5 main sites in South East London. The Trust provides a full range of local hospital services across its sites, and specialist services from King’s College Hospital (KCH) sites at Denmark Hill and at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) in Bromley.
We encourage a healthy work/life balance and offer flexible working options from the start of employment to suit service requirements.
We are seeking a dynamic Registered Nurse to join our South Sites Eye Service at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup, and Orpington Hospital. The clinics provide a comprehensive service and offer an excellent opportunity to develop a new or advanced ophthalmic specialty.
We are looking for someone who embraces change, works collaboratively with the care group to implement innovative ways of working, and puts the patient at the centre of everything they do.
In this role, you will care for patients attending eye appointments or procedures, coordinate clinical activities, perform various diagnostic eye tests, assist with ocular procedures, and apply holistic knowledge to develop pre-assessment and rapid access assessment skills, among other responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate compassion, deliver high-quality care with excellent communication skills, and collaborate effectively within a multi-professional team to ensure patients receive timely and safe care throughout their journey in the department.
If you are motivated to learn a new specialty or have ophthalmology experience and are interested in developing, we encourage you to apply.
Queen Mary’s Eye Department operates as a seven-day outpatient service.
