Role
You will support the team in achieving the goals and objectives of the research and breeding programmes, using a broad range of methods and procedures, including sampling and processing of plant material for various downstream applications, DNA and RNA extractions, and genotyping techniques, depending on the requirements of the various objectives. The success of the research is heavily dependent on accurate recording and tracking of information on thousands of plants and associated samples, thus you will ensure that data and records you generate are prepared correctly for upload into our Laboratory Information Management System. You will also assist in the general running of the Graham lab, including maintaining various stocks and ordering consumables.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
1. A level, HNC, or equivalent experience
2. Theoretical and practical experience of carrying out relevant technical activities
3. Well-organised with excellent written and verbal communication skills
4. Ability to perform practical tasks to a consistently high standard with attention to detail, helping colleagues as required to ensure tasks are completed on time
5. Previous experience in plant research would be advantageous
