Role purpose

The responsibility of a Claims Handler at Arch Insurance Company (Europe) Limited relates to all Healthcare claims generated by Arch managed syndicates and the company platform writing UK, US and international business.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

1. Handle claims associated with Arch managed syndicates and company platform.
2. Provide technical leadership to the rest of the London market on lead files.
3. Responsible for the delivery of a high level claims service. This involves regular communication with claims managers and underwriters.
4. Assist underwriters in the implementation of their overall underwriting strategy.
5. Represent Healthcare claims at events, client meetings, broker meetings and Arch internal meetings (when required).
6. Manage service providers involved in the claims function on a day to day basis
7. Assist in the manging of TPA’s including annual audits.
8. Assist in aspects of coverage and potential recovery.

Key Responsibilities

1.

Technical Expertise

9. Adhere to the Arch Insurance (Europe) Ltd reserving philosophy and ensuring claims are reserved in a consistent and accurate manner.
10. Responsibility for handling losses within handler’s authority levels.
11. Deliver concise, clear and accurate reports, such as Large Loss and Risk Alert Reports.
12. Deliver concise, clear and accurate Audit reports for compliance purposes.

Manage external service providers

13. Manage relationships with brokers, Insureds, Coverholders and third party providers.
14. Feedback on the performance of technical experts i.e., lawyers and loss adjusters and ensuring adherence to SLA’s
15. Feedback on the performance of TPA’s
16. Audit of TPA’s

Claims Strategy & Market Leadership

17. Involved in the delivery of the department's business goals and objectives.
18. Representing Arch Insurance (Europe) Ltd in the London market, for both Lloyd’s and company platforms.
19. Where Arch are agreement party, act as a market lead including strategy planning, managing market calls/meetings and the demands/expectations of market followers
20. Delivery of claims tasks and projects outside day-to-day workflow
21. Contribute to improving claims processes and procedures as necessary

Role

Skills / Competencies

22. Good technical knowledge of Healthcare (US/International). However candidates with General liability or Professional Lines will be considered.
23. Experience of US law and insurance regulations in various jurisdictions would be advantageous however not essential.
24. Broad understanding of coverage issues/policy interpretation
25. Good report writing skills
26. Ability to communicate confidently at the highest levels across all areas of an organisation.
27. Strategically minded.
28. Results and service focussed.
29. Strong influencing and decision making
30. Ability to prioritise, multi-task and be organised.
31. Ability to use own initiative or seek guidance as appropriate.
32. Excellent IT Skills
33. Minimum of 5x A-C GCSE grades, A-levels or degree.
34. Progression towards CII would be advantageous.
35. Insurance claims Industry experience.
36. Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in a similar role and the Insurance Market, which can be either company or Lloyd’s platforms.
