The role
As a Procurement Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Babcock provides services including fleet time engineering, facilities management, waterfront services, logistics and transport within an agreed operating budget, firmly focused on continuous and sustainable improvement in warship and submarine support.
Day to day, you’ll support the business by providing supply chain support to obtain goods and/or services whilst minimising business risk through compliance with policy and process.
Additionally you will also be responsible for:
1. Supporting the procurement process enabling ops team processing requisitions to purchase orders on all > £10k requirements
2. Supporting the Ops Team with order book management, clear aged debt by liaising with supplier and end users
3. Establishing Cost savings
4. Identify areas for improvement, maximising efficiencies by Data Management and analysis
5. Manage Supplier performance so that it meets operational requirements of the Business Units
6. Competitive tendering utilising SAP, COUPA or IFS systems, response scoring, management of awarded supplier to conclusion, negotiation of terms and conditions including FMSP and occasionally construction contracts.
This role is full time 37hours a week and will be based at Faslane, 1-2 days a week onsite with working from home arrangements.
Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. Essential experience of the Procurement Specialist:
7. The role requires Knowledge of Supply Chain processes and adjoining processes, knowledge of core supply chain clauses as contained within the client contract.
8. Knowledge of existing contracts and the appropriate use of.
9. MS office applications and a high level of competency in the use of SAP for the purposes of document management, Purchase Order management, invoice management and supplier performance management activity.
10. Knowledge of due diligence processes and credit check processes for supplier on boarding and throughout continual supplier maintenance
11. Delivery focussed with a pragmatic, hands-on approach that enables strategies to be fully executed and operational goals to be met
Qualifications for the Procurement Specialist:
12. The ideal candidate will be degree qualified or equivalent or have relevant experience
13. MCIPs, degree level an advantage but not essential
