Sainsbury's Tech - Frontend Engineer
Why join us
We have one of the most exciting data sets in the country — over 1.2 billion transactions per year. This provides you with the opportunity to solve real-world problems and see your creations used by millions across the UK. As a Frontend Engineer, you'll create high-quality products by adhering to best practice architectural and engineering principles, operating frameworks, and leveraging new technologies. We value individuality — whether you're analytical, curious, or eager to learn and challenge the status quo. We encourage continuous improvement within our teams.
What you'll do
* Own the design and development of high-performance, user-friendly web frontends using React.js, Redux, Redux Saga, and TypeScript.
* Contribute to our product technical roadmap and work with cloud and container technologies like Kubernetes on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
* Lead the design and support of services and internal frameworks that enhance Sainsbury’s capabilities.
* Manage engineering tasks throughout the entire product lifecycle, considering cost and service support implications of engineering decisions.
Who you are
* Proficient in programming languages such as JavaScript, ReactJS, Swift/iOS, Android, Kotlin, Java, Spring Boot, or Golang, with a solid understanding of architectural principles.
* Experienced in software design, implementation, security, cloud infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and hardware relevant to the role.
* Self-driven with a passion for agile/lean methodologies, delivering customer solutions, owning the SDLC, and practicing DevSecOps principles.
* Enthusiastic about emerging technologies and eager to contribute to team success.
Qualifications
We are committed to inclusivity and supporting your development. We offer flexible working, recognition for extra effort, and a comprehensive benefits package, including:
* 10% colleague discount at Sainsbury's, Argos, TU, and Habitat after 4 weeks; increasing to 15% on Fridays and Saturdays at Sainsbury’s, and on pay days at Argos.
