Job Description Salary: £29,064 - £31,022 per annum Hours per week: 37 hours Interview date: To be confirmed following shortlisting Are you practical, observant, and passionate about protecting the environment? Join our Environmental Crime Team as an Enforcement Field Support Officer and play a vital role in tackling fly-tipping and environmental offences across Wiltshire. The Enforcement Team plays a vital role in delivering the council's objectives and shaping public perception through its direct impact on local communities. Working in partnership with organisations such as the Police, Environment Agency, courts, community groups, and internal services, the team helps improve quality of life for Wiltshire residents. This is a hands-on, field-based role where no two days are the same - you will deploy and manage overt and covert surveillance cameras in line with legislation, helping to monitor high-risk locations and gather crucial evidence. Attending incident scenes, you will assess, document, and photograph environmental crime, carrying out basic waste examinations to identify investigative leads. Working closely with Enforcement Officers, you will support live investigations by securing evidence, maintaining accurate records, and producing clear reports as well as coordinating the clearance of waste, liaising with contractors and partners to ensure swift and effective resolution. Strong communication skills are key, as you will engage with landowners, businesses, and partner agencies offering advice and helping to prevent further offences. You will also contribute to intelligence gathering by inputting accurate, actionable information into council systems. If you are detail-oriented, proactive, and motivated to make a visible difference in local communities, this is a fantastic opportunity to support enforcement activity and help keep Wiltshire clean and safe. Why us? Wiltshire Council is a friendly, welcoming place to work, with a 'One Council' ethos. Find out more about Our Identity, staff networks, and employee benefits here. Our hybrid working model means office staff are on site for at least half their hours, community-based staff carry out at least half their admin time in a workplace, and customer-facing roles work entirely from their service location. We are committed to creating a workplace where positive relationships thrive and everyone feels engaged, supported and able to do their best. We do not tolerate discrimination, bullying or harassment. Everyone is expected to promote a culture of inclusion, dignity, trust and respect, guided by our vision and Our Identity.
