Our client, a well-established and rapidly growing Wolverhampton-based M&E contractor, is expanding due to sustained project wins and long-term contracts. They are seeking a hands-on, proactive, and experienced Health & Safety Manager to take ownership of safety across multiple sites, with a focus on social housing projects.
A background in construction and M&E is essential, and previous experience with a Tier 1 contractor will be a distinct advantage.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct regular site inspections, identify hazards, and implement practical improvements using in-house IT systems.
2. Ensure full compliance with all relevant accreditations, certifications, and legislative requirements.
3. Maintain an audit-ready standard at all times, completing necessary safety audits and producing accurate reports.
4. Drive a positive safety-first culture on site, ensuring CDM Regulations, RAMS, and incident investigations are embedded in day-to-day operations.
5. Lead by example, promoting best practice and engaging with all stakeholders to continually improve site safety performance.
6. Utilise strong IT skills to streamline processes, reporting, and communication.
About You
7. Proven experience as a Health & Safety Manager in M&E / Construction, ideally with exposure to social housing and tenanted properties.
8. Hands-on, solution-focused, and able to carry out gap analyses as well as implement effective improvements.
9. Firm but approachable leadership style, able to communicate effectively across teams and client representatives.
10. In-depth knowledge of CDM Regulations and health & safety best practices within the construction sector.
11. Comfortable engaging with tradespeople, contracts managers, and clients while maintaining attention to detail and compliance.
Qualifications & Requirements
12. NEBOSH General Certificate and SMSTS (or equivalent) – essential.
13. Full UK driving licence – essential (site travel required).
14. Willingness to undertake additional training and development.
15. Strong IT skills, with the ability to embrace technology to improve safety processes.
